The Gators hosted several top targets and commits this weekend during Florida’s big upset victory in the Swamp over No. 9 Texas. With concerns starting to develop with recruits after a 1-3 start to the season, Gators’ ATH commit Justin Williams got all the answers he needed after Florida stunned Texas at home.
The Gainesville native is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class and is listed as the No. 205 overall prospect and No. 11 ATH, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
“I might just lock it in you know,” Williams said on his recruitment after Florida’s big win. “I saw what I needed to see this game. Every game up to this point has been kind of shaky, but after that they got something going.”
The Gators have seen true freshmen come in and have an enormous impact under Billy Napier, and Dallas Wilson’s record-breaking performance made it clear to Williams that the opportunity will be there.
“It made me feel better about coming in and making an impact and being a part of the team,” Williams said. “It’s just great to see us execute against a really good opponent.”
There’s no doubt that execution on the offensive side of the football has been Florida’s biggest issue through the first five weeks, and Williams was pleased to see the offense he witnessed last season.
“Really the only thing the past couple games is just missing on a couple plays and a couple throws here and there, but this game when everything was clicking, the offense was rolling,” Williams said.
The biggest thing Williams wants to see for the rest of the season is progression. This team won four games in a row to end the season in 2024, but the Gators have a different test in front of them in 2025.
“Just carrying what they took from this game onto the next game, because it’s a tough schedule. So, they are definitely going to need to play together,” Williams said.
The multi-sport athlete can really do it all. At Buchholz High School, Williams was a member of the team that won the first baseball state title in school history. On the football side, Williams caught 85 passes for 1,473 yards (17.3 YPR) and 13 touchdowns in 2024. The Gainesville native also recorded 108 rushing attempts for 1,023 yards (9.5 YPC) and 16 touchdowns.
Florida’s staff views Williams as a wide receiver at the next level.
